Donation Process

How do I choose a family to help?

Go to yidtovid.com and filter by location, categories, family size or dollar amount.

What payment methods do you accept?

All major credit cards, Google and Apple Pay, and Donor Advised Funds (DAF).

How quickly does my donation reach the family?

Instantly. Funds are immediately loaded onto the family’s Yid to Yid debit card.

Can I donate to multiple families?

Yes. You can select multiple families and complete one secure checkout.

What's the minimum/maximum donation amount?

There is no required minimum or maximum. Give whatever amount feels right to you.

Can I set up recurring donations?

Yes. You can choose to make a one-time gift or set up recurring monthly or holiday donations directly through your donor dashboard.

Can I donate anonymously?

Yes. You can choose to remain anonymous; the family will not see your name or personal details.

Do I get a tax-deductible receipt?

Yes. Yid to Yid is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit, and every donation automatically generates a tax-deductible receipt via email.

Family Verification & Selection

How are families chosen for the platform?

Families are referred through trusted community Kupot Tzedaka (local charity funds) across Israel.

Who vets the families?

Each partnering Kupah verifies financial need through interviews, documentation, and community references before approval.

What criteria determine if a family qualifies?

Criteria include household income, number of dependents, recent hardships, and other relevant factors demonstrating financial strain.

How often are family circumstances verified?

Families are re-evaluated at least twice a year, or sooner if circumstances change.

Do families know who donated to them?

No. Donations are anonymous by default. Families simply see the funds credited to their cards.

Can I communicate directly with a family?

To preserve dignity and privacy, donors and families cannot communicate directly. Updates and impact reports are shared through Yid to Yid.

What happens if a family's circumstances change?

If a family’s situation improves or changes, their status on the platform is updated and they may rotate out to make room for others in need.

The Card & Shopping

How do the grocery cards work?

Each verified family receives a prepaid debit card pre-loaded with donor funds. They can use it at major supermarkets and grocery chains across Israel.

What stores can families use the cards at?

Cards are accepted at leading Israeli grocery chains and neighborhood supermarkets that support the program.

What can/can't be purchased with the cards?

Cards are restricted from alcohol, tobacco, and non-kosher items. Families can buy groceries, produce, household essentials, and baby products.

Do the cards expire?

No. Funds remain available until used, though inactive cards may be reviewed by Yid to Yid after a set period.

What if a card is lost or stolen?

The card can be deactivated and replaced by the local Kupah or Yid to Yid support team.

Can families get cash back from the cards?

No. Cards are for purchases only and cannot be used to withdraw cash.

Donor Feedback & Transparency

What kind of feedback do I get about my donation?

You’ll receive confirmation when your donation is loaded and a short follow-up summary once the family shops.

How detailed is the shopping summary?

Summaries show overall categories of spending (e.g., groceries, household, baby needs), not individual items, to protect privacy.

How long after they shop do I get the feedback?

Usually within a few days, once the purchase data is processed.

What if I don't receive feedback?

You can contact our support team, and we’ll ensure your donation was properly delivered and processed.

Can I see exactly what items were purchased?

No. To maintain dignity, feedback is shown as spending categories rather than exact product lists.
